Breast Health Support – Breast health is supported by many lifestyle factors, including nutrition and targeted supplementation. This month, we’re highlighting evidence‑based options that may complement your wellness plan.

Vitamin D & K2: Foundational Support for Wellness

Close-up of broccoliVitamin D plays an important role in bone health, immune function, and normal cell growth. Vitamin K2 (MK‑7) works alongside vitamin D to help support healthy calcium metabolism by directing calcium to the bones and teeth, where it is needed most. While research continues to explore the relationship between vitamin D status and breast health, maintaining adequate vitamin D levels is an important part of overall wellness.

Before supplementing, ask your healthcare provider to check your 25‑hydroxy vitamin D [25(OH)D] blood level. Testing can help determine whether supplementation is appropriate and identify the dose that’s right for you. More is not always better, and excessive vitamin D intake can be harmful.

Use caution if you:

  • Take warfarin (Coumadin) or another vitamin K antagonist, as vitamin K2 may affect how these medications work.
  • Have a history of kidney stones, hypercalcemia, or certain kidney disorders unless advised by your healthcare provider.
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding or have medical conditions requiring individualized dosing.
