Probiotics are the live bacteria and yeasts that live in your body and keep your gut healthy.

The GI tract is a finely balanced environment where roughly 500 different strains of bacteria compete for space and nutrients.

When there is a higher amount of healthy bacteria to unhealthy bacteria few symptoms exist. However, dysbiosis can occur when there is an overabundance of unhealthy bacteria.

The bacteria balance can be upset by medications (such as antibiotics, oral contraceptives, etc.), excessive alcohol consumption, or poor dietary intake.

    What happened when you take probiotics while on antibiotics? Does it hurt? Help?
